Artistic commentary on current events

Jessicarrot  art features one specific and controversial figure in the middle of a much larger systemic issue. Healthcare in America is strained to the absolute limits. It is hard for most Americans to afford access to medical advice and intervention and at the root of this systems problem is healthcare for profit. And those profiting are engaging in not only wage theft but healthcare theft, taking from the people the right to life-saving medical care. Luigi Mangione has made an impact on our culture-- making this much needed conversation come to the foreground.

Our approach to color and craft

I came to start painting Luigi as the pressure from insurance companies was making it harder and harder to work with the kids I work with. We have a for-profit healthcare system, and kids with special needs seem to be the first ones to lose funding for their needs.  Painting became an outlet for me at a time when it feels like things just aren't getting better and there is nothing I can do to change anything.

I grew up around artists and have always loved painting as a medium, it has been a refuge for me at this point in my life. Luigi represents something like a Robin Hood, or a fictional super hero. His face is really interesting and he's fucking brave as hell.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not." Dr Suess

"Never lose the plot" Luigi Mangione

"Its completely unjust and an insult to the intelligence of the American people and their lived experiences." Luigi Mangione
